We are the leading gold producer in Tanzania, and have built a portfolio of exploration projects across Africa

A leading African producer

Currently, all of Acacia’s mining operations are in Tanzania, a country consistently ranked highly in Africa in terms of political stability with a history of democratically elected governments. The country has an established legal and regulatory framework for mining companies and has built up a 15 year history of commercial gold mining.

Our producing mines

We have three mines at present: Bulyanhulu, Buzwagi and North Mara, all located in north-west Tanzania.

  • A high-grade underground mine with shaft and ramp access, which is transitioning to mechanised long-hole stoping as its principal mining method
  • Life of mine is estimated to be over 20 years, based on proven and probable gold reserves of 5.1 million ounces

  • A low-grade bulk deposit with a single large open pit
  • Life of mine is estimated to be 3 years, based on proven and probable gold reserves of 0.6 million ounces

North Mara

  • A high-grade combined open pit and underground mine, with underground ore sourced from the Gokona deposit and open pit ore from the Nyabirama deposit
  • Life of mine is estimated to be 8 years based on proven and probable gold reserves of 1.9 million ounces.

Our exploration projects

We hold over 5,500 square kilometres of exploration licences and permits in the highly prospective Archaean greenstone belts of Tanzania and western Kenya, and in the Birimian greenstone belts of south-western Burkina Faso and western Mali.

From this base, we are also well placed to continue widening our interests into other parts of Africa.
